Zaria Education Development Association ZEDA

ZEDA was established to promote greater awareness and interaction amongst Zaria indigenes for the purpose of uplifting the educational standard of the area, to create a high powered autonomous Board of Trustees which shall be responsible for the management of the Association's development funds, programmes and projects and to do any other thing possible and as may be required from time to time to improve the lots of Zaria people.

Welcome to Zaria Education Development Association (ZEDA).

ZEDARemedial

This is the flagship programme of ZEDA where seasoned teachers are engaged to coach Secondary School Leavers who could not secure the required credits in their qualifying exams for one year to enable them gain admission into Tertiary Educational Institutions.

ZEDAVocational Training

Secondary School graduates with flair for skill acquisition are trained under this programme. The skills are in the form of on-the-job training which includes battery charging, vulcanizing of tyres, panel beating, welding, carpentry, weaving and tailoring etc. However, the programme is on hold due to lack of appropriate facilities and equipment as well as financial support.

ZEDAProminent Indigenes and Friends Scholarship Scheme (PIFSS)

Under this Programme, resources are mobilized from indigenes of the Zazzau Emirate and/or their friends towards providing bursaries and scholarships to students of the Emirate studying in tertiary Institutions to enable them lead comfortable life. Sequels to the impact of this programme, some of the beneficiaries are now Professors, Ph.D. holders, Lawyers and so on. Such financial scholarship has ceased to come to ZEDA for a long time.

ZEDAZEDA Sponsored Competitions

Sponsored Competitions among schools and colleges within Zazzau Emirate and Kaduna State are held annually. The Competitions are for Pupils in Primary Schools and Students within Secondary Schools. The Competitions are meant to promote learning and motivate pupils and/or students to appreciate competition as a goal towards self-improvement. Due to lack of appropriate support, the programme is no longer held.

ZEDAJAMB Clinic

JAMB Examination qualifies Nigerian Students for admission into Tertiary Educational Institutions. Over the years, hitherto some brilliant and hardworking students as candidates for the JAMB Examination have failed to pass the exams despite performing satisfactorily at the SSCE and NECO Exams. The programme started in year 2003 and has coached candidates to enable them gain admission into Tertiary Educational Institutions. We need sponsors to enable the programme continue to provide opportunities to our youth to have expanded access to tertiary education.

ZEDAModel Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools

ZEDA has established Model Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools at its Permanent Secretariat located at the Abdulrahman Mora Educational and Vocational Centre. The school needs more classrooms, laboratories, workshops, Library and Assembly Hall to be constructed to enable the school continue to enroll more pupils and students.

ZEDACatch Them Young

This programme is focused on Emerging Technologies as the 4th Industrial revolution organized mainly to help children from the ages of 6 to 17 identify and develop skills, talents and passion for entrepreneurship as an alternative to the dependency on Government job or parents. More so, this will reduce the rate of unemployed youth, restiveness, enhance community development and productivity in all ramifications. Promising children from all the Local Governments are gathered and camped in WTC to be integrated with each other and to learn new things.
